The Power of Behavioral Finance: A Journey from Nudging to Advising and AI
Date & Time

Shlomo Benartzi
Description

Nudging – the Save More Tomorrow program has already helped more than 25 million people save more for retirement. Benartzi's recent research has focused on additional nudges, such as temporal reframing and smart defaults, that can help even more people achieve financial security.
Advising – While nudging works in many situations, the complexity of personal finance in the 21st century means that people also need holistic and highly personalized financial guidance. His recent research shows that such holistic guidance, and the potential increase in the quality of financial decisions, can boost household income by 7.5%, with the biggest benefits going to lower income households.  (And in terms of bps, the value of holistic financial advice adds up to 2,408 bps!)
AI – While AI has tremendous potential to democratize holistic financial advice, many challenges remain, such as debiasing existing AI platforms. The ultimate goal is to pair AI with an advanced financial engine, allowing it to deliver tailored nudges and guidance across a range of domains to all who need it.  This session will feature a surprise live demo of an AI advisor capable of delivering holistic advice.
